I hope this finds you happy and healthy!

As most of you know I have started a figure skating club team at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut and I absolutely love it!  We are currently about a dozen skaters and growing.  We have enjoyed doing both USFS and ISI events. 
As our team fundraiser, the SHU team is going to run an annual ISI competition, called the Pioneer Open.

The 2010 inaugural event will take place at the Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th.  The competition will offer all of the standard ISI events, for all ages and levels, just like any other open competition.  And, we will also offer a "collegiate" category in all events.

In addition to the standard ISI events, we will be offering the two new events that debuted at the ISI Riverdale Ice Lake Placid competition...Ultimate Freestyle and Team Interpretive. (Both are thoroughly explained in the attached announcement).

This is the perfect event for USFS skaters, who want to give the ISI a try.  Skaters who are not ISI members and skate at a rink who is not a member, can join the Institute through the Collegiate Conference of Recreational Ice Skating (CCRIS) by adding $15 to their first event entry fee. CCRIS will then be available to assist in determining ISI test levels and appropriate events.

Aside from the competition, admission counselors from SHU will be available throughout the event to answer questions about college planning and preparation.  Campus tours will also be available on request.
