ABOUT YFSC:
The Yonkers Figure Skating Club (YFSC) was established in 1986 by a group of parents whose children were interested in all aspects of Figure Skating from the recreational to the competitive. The YFSC is located at the Edward J. Murray Memorial Skating Center in Yonkers, New York, and is a member in good standing with the Ice Skating Institute (ISI) and the U.S. Figure Skating Association (USFSA), the national governing body of the sport of figure skating in the United States. During the 2006-07 season the YFSC celebrated its 20th Anniversary. The Club's membership has increased over the years, producing several regional, sectional and nationally recognized, competitive athletes in the area of single skating, pair skating and synchronized team skating.
YFSC offers its' Members the following:
- Ice Time Sessions for skaters to expand their skills with their coaches. The Sessions provide a safe and convenient environment where skaters can take lessons, perform their programs, and advance in skating.
- Test Sessions for skaters to officially mark their progress in the various branches of the sport: Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Pair, Dance and Synchronized Team Skating. The Yonkers Figure Skating Club conducts several of these official Test Sessions during the year. They are sanctioned by the U.S. Figure Skating Association.
- Synchronized Team Skating for skaters to participate on the Team Image Precision teams, who compete at both regional and national levels. The teams are recognized by the U.S. Figure Skating Association.
- An Annual ISI Figure Skating Competition for skaters to demonstrate their skill. The Competition gives skaters the opportunity to compete at their home rink with other skaters from the tri-state area.
- An Annual Charity Exhibition for skaters to donate their time and effort to helping other children. Each year, the Club's Junior Membership selects a children's charity and raises money for the Exhibition.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our website and keep skating! |
